श्री करवीर निवासिनी महालक्ष्मी अंबाबाई
करवीर नगरीची अधिष्ठात्री देवी म्हणून पूजल्या जाणाऱ्या श्री महालक्ष्मी अंबाबाईंचे हे मंदिर साडेतीन शक्तिपीठांपैकी एक मानले जाते. देवी महालक्ष्मीला येथे "करवीर निवासिनी अंबाबाई" या नावाने ओळखले जाते.
मंदिराचा इतिहास सुमारे ७व्या शतकापर्यंत पोहोचतो आणि चालुक्यकालीन स्थापत्यकलेचे हे एक अद्वितीय उदाहरण मानले जाते.
मंदिरातील देवीची काळ्या पाषाणातील भव्य मूर्ती पश्चिमाभिमुख आहे, जे भारतीय मंदिर स्थापत्यशास्त्रामध्ये अत्यंत दुर्मिळ मानले जाते. देवीच्या हातामध्ये ढाल, गदा आणि पानपात्र आहे.
मंदिरातील सूक्ष्म दगडी कोरीवकाम, दीपमाळा, गरुड मंडप आणि प्राचीन वास्तुरचना भाविकांना आध्यात्मिकतेचा दिव्य अनुभव देतात.

Shree Ambabai — The Living Goddess of Kolhapur
Shree Ambabai Mandir, located in the heart of Kolhapur city, is one of the 51 sacred Shakti Peethas of India and among the most revered temples of Maharashtra. Mata Ambabai, also known as Shree Karveer Nivasini Mahalaxmi, is believed to be swayambhu (self-manifested) — she was not installed by human hands but appeared on her own.
The temple dates back over 1,200 years, with historical mentions in ancient scriptures. The main idol of Mata Ambabai is made of Shaligrami stone — a naturally occurring sacred black stone. The goddess wears a magnificent kireet (crown) and is adorned with divine ornaments and sarees daily. A unique tradition is the Palkhi procession held every Friday, where the goddess is taken out in a grand ceremonial palanquin for devotees to witness.
The temple complex features beautifully carved Hemadpanthi-style architecture from the medieval period. Thousands of pilgrims from across Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Goa visit every day. On auspicious occasions like Navratri, Lalita Panchami, and Kiranotsav, lakhs of devotees throng the temple.
श्री अंबाबाई मंदिर, कोल्हापूर — महाराष्ट्रातील एक महत्त्वाचे शक्तिपीठ. अंबाबाई स्वयंभू आहेत, त्या शाळिग्राम शिलेत विराजमान आहेत. दररोज महा शृंगारवील सेवा केली जाते.
